WALLPAPER. AUTOTUNES JAY-Z
Still "reeling" from the success of remixes for Passion Pit and of Das Racist's "Combination Pizza Hut & Taco Bell" (Pitchfork "Best New Music", MTV & Village Voice call it "Summer Jam of '09"), Oakland duo Wallpaper. show no signs of slowing down. Known for their auto-tuned antics, the duo felt it necessary to address Jay-Z's new song, "Death Of Autotune," and decided to turn the tables on the man himself and present us with "D.O.A. + 99 Problems (Wallpaper. Remix)".
LYRICS
"This is anti-autotune, death of the ringtone,
This ain't for iTunes, this ain't for sing alongs.
I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but my pitch ain't one.
First singer to rewrite history that can't sing,
Ricky Reed on the track let the story begin.
I feel bad for you son, I got 99 problems but my pitch ain't one."
Thoughts from singer Ricky Reed:
"At first I wanted to just change that shi*t to DOAFEBM. Death-of-autotune-for-everyone-but-me," singer Ricky Reed says. "But then I was like 'flip that house man' I'm gon show these looney tuners how it's done and big up Jay wit a little robo swing."
