KUMAIL NANJIANI FREED FROM COLBERT'S PRISON !

Last night Stephen Colbert freed comedian Kumail Nanjiani from his secret under-desk prison.  As the orange jumpsuited Omar, er, Homer, Kumail was let go after serving 4 years time after being mistaken for an Arab when he was delivering Colbert's Greek take-out.  The comedian who is also known for his outstanding one man show 'Unpronounceable' which recently made its West Coast debut, is back tonight as part of Colbert Nation -don't miss it!

The Brooklyn duo release the long-awaited follow up to their self-titled debut today, and celebrate with a free stream of 'GRAND'!  Check out the album Nylon says "defies the cursed sophomore slump" and Alternative Press advises "get ready to marvel at a dramatic leap forward that more than lives up to its name"!

As if you didn't know by now, MATT AND KIM have a brand new album ready for release!  'GRAND' will be available Jan 20 on the FADER label and Matt and Kim are counting down to the album release with daily video and photo postings on their myspace page.  Shortly after their Jan 22 Record Release Show at Music Hall of Williamsburg, Matt and Kim will head out on a West Coast Tour followed by a March tour with Cut Copy.  Oh it all promises to be too much fun!

The brilliant EUGENE MIRMAN is set to release his entirely hilarious book 'THE WILL TO WHATEVS' next month and will celebrate the release with a super show packed with special guests at The Bell House on Feb 10 followed by a handful of US appearances.  Watch for Eugene's return as the surly landlord on Season 2 of Flight Of The Conchords this month, too!

MODERNBOYS MODERNGIRLS kicked off the New Year just right playing their first ever US shows in NYC last week!  The Toronto band was in town showcasing tracks from their breakout debut lp 'I Might As Well Break It' which was self-released in Canada and will see a US release later this year.  In the meantime, help yourself to a free download of the awesome "My Baby Says Boy, Don't You Ever Go" and watch this space for much, much more on these guys!

Things are totally hopping over at OLIVIA WINGATE ARTISTS!  Their stable of comedians have loads of shows coming up including KUMAIL NANJIANI, named on Comedy Central's Hot List, who will be performing his outstanding Paul Provenza directed one man show "Unpronounceable" in UCB in LA on Jan 22 and hitting the South Beach Comedy Festival on Jan 24.  You can also catch Kumail when he opens for Eugene Mirman Jan 16 & 17 at Comix in NYC.

She sings, she jazzercises, she eats beef jerky in slow motion!  ADIRA AMRAM Is: An American Idol!  Come see her and her backup dancers, The Men Without Women, at Ars Nova on Feb 4 and Feb 10.  Staging by Travis Chamberlain, leotards welcome.

GOD'S POTTERY, leaders of Team Jesus and they of Last Comic Standing fame, have a bunch of shows coming up which you will NOT want to miss!!  Gideon and Jeremiah will be spreading the Good Word in Chapel Hill on Jan 15 @ Local 506, then move on to Charleston, SC for two nights @ Music Farm on Jan 16 & 17, and hit the west coast for three nights @ Punchline in San Francisco on Jan 29-31.  While they are in town, maybe challenge them to a game of HORSE?   

GOOSEBERRIES is the beautiful photo project by Sterling Andrews, available this spring via Eenie Meenie Records.   Featuring a dozen bands including Silversun Pickups, Rogue Wave, The Happy Hollows, Earlimart, Great Northern, and Rademacher who are all included in the project, Gooseberries is a collection of fine art lithographs of the musicians photographed in front of Sterling's imaginative, original,  handpainted backgrounds.  Along with the portraits will be a dvd with video, interviews and stills packaged in hand-numbered, limited-edition gatefold.

Stay tuned for mucho news on BRASSTRONAUT who are currently holed up in Banff recording a new album.  The Vancouver group's 'OLD WORLD LIES' EP will see a US release this spring and soon you'll be able to feast your eyes on their smoldering video for the track "Requiem For A Scene".  Yer gonna love it!
