THE WOODEN BIRDS ANNOUNCE NEW LP, SXSW SHOWS
Barsuk Records is excited to announce the release of The Wooden Birds’ highly-anticipated new album entitled 'Two Matchsticks.' The album will be out June 7 as the second Wooden Birds LP by American Analog Set founder/frontman and Broken Social Scene collaborator/touring member Andrew Kenny, and the follow up to his critically acclaimed 2009 Wooden Birds debut 'Magnolia.’
Kenny wrote every song on 'Two Matchsticks' and played every instrument, recorded it in a converted bedroom at home, and mixed at Austin's Resonate Studio with producer Louie Lino (Nada Surf). The album also features special guests Ben Gibbard, members of Ola Podrida, and Wooden Birds touring members Matt Pond and Leslie Sisson, who, in addition to backing vocals, takes a solo turn in a song custom penned by Kenny. While 'Two Matchsticks' keeps the percussive affects of The Wooden Birds' debut, Kenny drew on the strength of The Wooden Bird's live show in writing the album, making it a stronger record sonically, more driven, upbeat and fuller than the Birds’ previous efforts. There is also a heat and a passion behind Kenny’s voice and thoughout the album’s lyrics, and the return of the vibraphone’s warm tones will also be a welcome sound to AmAnSet fans.
Well in advance of the June release of the album, fans will be treated to performances by The Wooden Birds at next month's SXSW Festival. The band will be showcasing new tracks from ‘Two Matchsticks’ as well as favorites from 'Magnolia,' and you can count on some AmAnSet gems as well. Next month, Daytrotter will post the intimate Wooden Birds session so watch for that to hit around March 10. LA STRADA ANNOUNCE LP RELEASE, SHOWS, DAYTROTTER SESSION

New York City five piece LA STRADA - James Craft, Devon Press, Ted Lattis, Brady Miller, and Daniel Baer - are proud to announce the release of their anxiously-awaited full length debut 'New Home,' available this April on Ernest Jenning Record Co.
Recorded at Miner Street Studios in Philadelphia and The Buddy Project in Queens, and produced by Kyle "Slick" Johnson (Cymbals Eat Guitars, Modest Mouse, Fischerspooner), 'New Home' is a 13-track album inspired by everything from African pop to French pop, folk tunes to indie rock, Brooklyn life to travels abroad. La Strada's expansive pop channels lyrical wanderlust and raw emotion with voices, strings, accordian, guitars, horns and drums. As heard on 'New Home,' La Strada is one of the most exciting and unique-sounding outfits making music today.
Formed in early 2007, La Strada quickly made a name for itself with raucous, foot-stomping shows. Having built a solid fanbase in NY while sharing stages with Takka Takka, Sharon Van Etten, O'Death, Stars Like Fleas, and Clare and the Reasons, and having toured North America with the likes of Bowerbirds and Canada's Hey Rosetta! and Cuff the Duke, La Strada has lit up stages with their spectrum of musical color. A record release show in NYC will hit around the April 20 release date of 'New Home.' In the meantime, you can catch La Strada at the dates below, including SXSW, and in a brand new Daytrotter session posting February 7!
