MARATHON 3 : The 78 hour long song

 
From October 7 through October 10,  Mark Mallman will perform one of the greatest musical feats of his career thus far; the 78 hour long song MARATHON 3.  His non-stop performance from the Turf Club in St. Paul, MN will include well over 400 pages of lyrics and nearly 100 backup musicians over the course of 4 days.  It's been six years since Mallman’s last marathon performance (Marathon 1 happened Sept 10-11 1999, and Marathon 2 took place September 4-6, 2004).

This Piece is representative of one of indie rock's unsung heros life's undertaking.  “This piece represents 3 marathons.  Each phase is 26 hours long, like a Marathon is 26 miles.  The first phase is called 'A Giant Wave,' the second 'Blood Flow,' and the 3rd “Liquid Moth.””  The 3 phases of the song will be performed consecutively, without breaks, totaling 78 hours.  When asked recently if he was planning on setting a world record, Mallman declined, saying,  “I am not a magician or a stuntman attempting to set a world record.  I am a professional musician.  I seek to expose the raw nerve of creativity itself.”

Mark Mallman's songs have been featured on This American Life, MTV, VH1, MSNBC, Current Television, and Public Radio International.  He has been touring America twice a year since 2003 and is currently signed with Badman Recording Company.  Mallman is also the frontman for Ruby Isle (Kindercore) and guitarist of newly formed WAXX MAXX.

In celebration of the release of PATRICK PARK's long-awaited fifth LP 'Come What Will,' Spinner is streaming the album in its entirety free all week long! The Colorado-raised LA-based guitarist who the LA Times called "one of the great heartbreaking voices working in the acoustic singer-songwriter world today” joined up with friend/collaborator Dave Trumfio (Wilco, Built To Spill) to produce another great record. Built with guitar, lap steel, drums, strings, bass and Patrick's captivating voice and incredible songwriting, 'Come What Will' stands tall alongside Patrick's critically acclaimed back catalog, including his hit-stacked album 'Everyone's In Everyone.'

To mark today's big release, the video for album single "You'll Get Over" is making its debut with an exclusive premiere at Paste Magazine online. The song, recorded in one complete take by Patrick and his band, is the lead-off track on Patrick's album of "elegant and simple music that can swell to something complex and beautiful” (whaleinacubicle). Having just wrapped a handful of East Coast dates in support of 'Come What Will,' Patrick will be playing along the West Coast while gearing up for more touring throughout the summer and fall. Previous tours have seen Patrick onstage with the likes of peers Beth Orton and Richard Buckner, next month you can catch Patrick with Joseph Arthur as well as with Seawolf for whom he produced a track for feature on Flash Forward.

Written in the haunted basement of a converted church and inspired by a ghostly apparition of Elvis, ‘INVINCIBLE CRIMINAL’ is the newest full length from musical genius MARK MALLMAN.
