SOUTHEAST ENGINE FEATURED ON NPR !
You like The Band? Wilco? Okkervil River? Well if you like them, chances are you’ll dig Southeast Engine Never heard of them? Well, hopefully that will change with the release of their 5th album Canary on March 29th on the recently revived Misra Records.
The vitals:
The band was discovered by The Wrens, formed by frontman Adam Remnant and drummer Leo DeLuca.
The kind of music they play: Americana, rustic story-telling heartland rock that could have been recorded in Woodstock in 1972.
On the band’s new album, the songwriting conceptually tells the story of a family living in a small Appalachian town in southeast Ohio during the Great Depression of the 1930′s. Lyrically it covers timeless topics of social, cultural and political concerns. Musically, it’s classic rock wisely dressed up in 2011 clothes. It’s one of the best roots-rock albums of 2011 so far.

The band are starting a big tour which brings them to Philly on Sunday, February 26th at the M Room.
MERIDENE ANNOUNCE LP & TOUR, GIVEAWAY MP3

Eau Claire four piece MERIDENE are excited to announce the release of their outstanding sophomore LP ‘SOMETHING LIKE BLOOD.’ To celebrate, Meridene are giving away the first album single “GONE BABY GONE” and showcasing songs from the new album along a midwest tour next month.
'Something Like Blood' was recorded by Meridene at the home studio of Bon Iver, April Base, where they lived, breathed, and put their hearts into recording the album over four intense days. The album tracks, including the single "Gone Baby Gone," were produced and mixed by Brian Moen of Peter Wolf Crier, and mastered by T.W. Walsh (Pedro The Lion, The Soft Drugs). The result is an indie rock sound along the lines of The Shins, Ra Ra Riot, Death Cab and Cursive which finds Meridene growing beyond their 2008 college radio breakout debut lp 'You're Not Pretty, You're Worse.'
Meridene is giving away the driven pop gem "Gone Baby Gone" as a free download. Click here for mp3 download.
